The Smart City of the Future

Cities of the future will be much more innovative and sustainable. The focus of emerging smart cities will lie on technology to control, monitor, and manage urban passenger transport networks.

The aim is to provide passengers and network operators with a safer and more resource-efficient experience.
This will be achieved through artificial intelligence, data analytics, passenger management, network monitoring, automated routing, and other techniques and technologies yet to be devised.

Human oversight and supervision of autonomous systems will still be required, thus making controller intervention necessary in certain situations for crisis management and emergencies. The control center allows the operator to control various areas of the smart city, such as the traffic load, automated driving, or fine dust pollution.

IHSE as a significant contributor to the ALFRIED Project

ALFRIED is an automated and connected driving initiative for inner-city logistics funded by
the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport. The project’s aim is to develop a comprehensive and complex mobility concept at the test site in Friedrichshafen to generate an efficient inner-city traffic flow model.

With the conceptual design and implementation of the Smart City control center, IHSE plays a crucial part in bringing together large amounts of data from the traffic and city infrastructure and making it available to the controllers. This data is used to create the local data space of mobility for the Friedrichshafen region to allow optimal traffic planning.

How a future SMART CITY control center works

Essential Information & Simple Access

Operators and network supervisors choose the information they need.

Multiple information streams are accessed using a single keyboard and mouse to minimize desktop clutter and simplify network management tasks.

Essential data is shared between operators and displayed on common video walls.

Every operator has the information needed in front of them.

Draco tera IP Gateway

The Draco tera IP Gateway provides IHSE KVM users with the ability to bridge multiple KVM matrices over existing IP networks within buildings, across campuses and between remote corporate offices.

The IP module adds connectivity between users, computers and KVM switches across TCP/IP connections and networks without compromising the high level of data security inherent in Draco tera technology.

Draco SIRA

The IP module adds remote, IP-based connection capability over local- and widearea networks to KVM systems located at greater distances. SIRA delivers maximum performance with minimal IP complexity.

Provides remote, real-time, access to a Draco tera KVM matrix via LAN, CAN or WAN. Remote users access the matrix using an HTML 5.0 browser, client software or SIRA User Station.
