REACH stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals. This new EU regulation centralises and simplifies chemicals legislation throughout Europe and entered into force on 1st of June 2007. The declared aim is to improve the level of knowledge about the dangers and risks that chemicals may pose. Companies are expected to assume even more responsibility for the safe handling of their products. The Federal Authorities here offer a wide range of information about REACH so that small and medium-sized companies can also quickly become familiar with the new rules. REACH was passed by the European Council on the 18th December 2006 and entered into force on 1st of June 2007.

Conflict Minerals
“Conflict minerals” originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are sometimes mined and sold by armed groups to “finance conflict characterized by extreme levels of violence”. Some of these minerals and the metals created from them (such as tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold) can make their way into the supply chains of the products used around the world, including those in the electronics industry. IHSE’s suppliers acquire and use minerals from multiple sources worldwide. As part of IHSE’s commitment to corporate responsibility and respecting human rights in our own operations and in our global supply chain, it is IHSE’s goal to seek to use tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold in our products that are “DRC conflict free” while continuing to support responsible in-region mineral sourcing from the DRC and adjoining countries.
