Zhejiang Radio and TV Group - Taking broadcasting to the next level
The new Zhejiang International Film and Television Center building houses studios and production facilities and several departments responsible for online and new media operations. Operational staff spread over several floors in the building need instant access to broadcast equipment and systems located several tens or hundreds of meters away in another part of the building.
The solution to achieve this is based on a large 160-port Draco tera enterprise KVM switch which instantly and reliably connects 100 operators to over 70 source devices via Cat X or fiber cables, depending upon the actual distance involved.
A large multi-segment videowall situated in the newsroom is also connected to the KVM switch, so that an administrator can select the most appropriate set of source images to be displayed in any situation.
Operators can instantly connect to each and every device they require in order to undertake their daily tasks and responsibilities. Using simple keyboard shortcuts each user can easily switch between all available broadcast systems whenever they choose. Switching is instant and there is no perceivable delay in the video transmitted, or in the responsiveness of their mouse and keyboard. It is as though the target system was located beneath their own desk.
“This large switch implementation in such a prestigious broadcasting organisation in China shows how important and credible the Draco tera KVM switch is to the industry,” said Terence Teng, IHSE APAC managing director. “It is flexible enough to adapt to all the original requirements demanded of the system and can be updated and changed to meet future needs.”
IHSE’s KVM switching and extension products are available for demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, 15 - 19 September 2017. Stand no. 7B.30.
