IHSE announces the release of Draco CWDM multiplexers

Oberteuringen, September 10, 2014 – IHSE, a worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals, today announces the release of two new Draco CWDM multiplexers. Multiplexing either four or eight bidirectional fiber connections the new devices are ideal for efficient KVM signal extension over large distances.

KVM extenders consist of two units (at the workstation and at remotely located CPU) and are used for the extension of computer signals up to 140 meters with Cat X cable and 10 km with single-mode fiber optic cable. Multiplexing of different fiber connections is made possible by the use of Draco CWDM multiplexers.

IHSE’s Draco CWDM multiplexers minimize the total number of long interconnection cables and cabling effort. Using specific SFP modules (small form-factor pluggable) the bi-directional passive optical pair of multiplexer and demultiplexer allows up to 4 or 8 different wavelengths to pass through a single optical fiber channel.

The Draco CWDM multiplexer/demultiplexer kit can be installed in several types of Draco vario chassis and is designed to integrate seamlessly with Draco vario extenders and Draco tera matrix switches. The Draco CWDM is completely agnostic to the signal type being transmitted, allowing DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, audio and RS232 sources to travel up to 10 km (specific SFP modules allow up to 120 km) over a single transceiver connection.

Additional configuration is not necessary and no power supply is required. Draco CWDM multiplexers/demultiplexers are available for installation in Draco vario frame enclosures or can be simply mounted under a table or on the wall.

IHSE’s range of high-performance KVM switching and extension technology will be available for live demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, 12-16 September 2014, Booth 7.B30.
