IHSE launches user station with local CPU support

Oberteuringen, January 29, 2014 – IHSE, a worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals announces the release of new extenders with local CPU support at the workstation.

KVM extenders for computer signal extension comprise two parts: CPU Units at the source end connect to computers whilst CON Units provide signals to peripheral devices, including monitor, keyboard and mouse. This relieves the workstation area of large, noisy and heat-producing computers. In addition, KVM matrix switches can create fully-connected switching networks that enable access from any consoles to all computers connected at the source.

The separation of computers and workstations vastly improves the work environment. However if a local mobile device is connected to a workstation the user must still use its integrated keyboard and pointing devices, which may not be convenient. To solve this problem, IHSE offers the successful Draco vario series with local CPU access at the workstation.

The newly designed Draco vario CPU Unit with local CPU support enables greater flexibility in the use of personal mobile devices. The device is connected to the CON Unit which functions as a local KVM switch, enabling switching between the local device and the remotely located computers via the KVM network. The workstation keyboard and mouse can thus be used to access and control the local device while optional loudspeakers or headphones will play back the analog audio signal. This leads to highest flexibility and increases working comfort.

A wide range of extender variants enables the use of all common audio and video interfaces including HDMI and DVI. Audio signals can be switched via HDMI and digital audio interface. To increase resilience, all extenders of the series Draco vario are also available in redundant versions.

The full range of IHSE KVM extenders, including the new extenders with local CPU access at the workstation, will be available for demonstration at ISE in Amsterdam, February 4-6 2014. Booth 10 – P136.
